Josh Stokes is a dedicated father, successful businessman, national award-winning attorney, and community leader who has a proven record of serving our neighbors, creating and protecting local jobs, and managing budgets.
Growing up, Josh’s parents instilled in him the respect and desire of public service. He was actively involved in the Boy Scouts of America and earned the highest rank of Eagle Scout. While attending Presbyterian College, Josh was a member of the school’s Student Volunteer Services and a Special Olympics volunteer.
Today, Josh uses his voice in multiple ways to give back to our community. Josh is a member of the Session and chancel choir at James Island Presbyterian Church. Beginning in August 2014, Josh was elected to serve the residents of the Town of James Island as a member of the Town Council. As the council liaison to the Town of James Island Children's Commission, Josh was instrumental in establishing several new annual events including the Town of James Island's Christmas Tree Lighting, Lights On! As a small business owner and previous Town Councilman, Josh has worked to balance regulation and opportunity so the businesses of the Lowcountry can not only succeed but thrive and further support our local community. Josh understands that government red-tape can harm our community, businesses, and local job growth. While on Town Council, Josh worked hard to eliminate government overreach while ensuring that our local community remains the cherished epitome of lowcountry living. One of Josh's highest priorities while on Town Council was ensuring our James Island neighborhoods and surrounding areas were safe for our children, families and seniors.
Josh has been awarded the national distinction of a Super Lawyers Rising Star in South Carolina every year for the last seven years. He has also been recognized nationally with the highest peer-reviewed, professional rating for his extremely high ethical standards and his overall legal ability.
